Any Suggestions?

I cannot start a fire to save my life. This is the first time I have a wood stove. The fire does not want to stay lit!

I woke up early and took a few snow pictures. The light was not right so I went out later and took a few more shots.

Nothing much to say about today. I watched my Philadelphia Eagles beat the Falcons! We needed this win.

I am just going to relax the rest of the night and edit pictures.

See, nothing exciting!

  1. Hey Jeanine,

I have a woodburning stove too. It can be a little tricky to get a good fire at first. I try to build a little square (imagine a miniature four walled log cabin) with whatever kindling I can find--dry twigs or small brances, wood from pallets, etc. In the middle of the square I put a bunch of loosely crumbled newspapers. I also surround the little square of with more newspaper. Put some more newspaper on top. This should be about 5 inches tall or so.

On top of that put one or two small logs side by side. Light it and hope for the best!

Once you get a good fire going, you can put on some bigger logs and you will be toasty warm all winter long!

    Good luck and Happy Birthday!

  2. Hi Jason,

I used the newspaper and that worked in the past. I think the problem was the log its self. I think it must of had some moisture in it.

I am going to give it another shot this weekend.

    Thank you for your suggestions.
