Daily Confession 2/16/2010
I did something today I rarely ever do during the week. I stayed in bed and read a magazine.
My mother got me subscription to Vanity Fair" Magazine. This is a magazine I have been reading for years.
In the past few years I gave up all of my subscriptions to magazines. There is so much content on the web I didn't think I would miss it.
After reading the magazine this morning, It made me realize I missed print.
We are getting some snow today. I plan on staying in and work on my nest. I really need to get rid of stuff. Its amazing how much stuff we collect. My house is not a candidate for a "hordes" program but I tend to keep things much longer than I should.
Right now, lunch is calling me.

Snow May Be Pretty But I Hate Shoveling It
We have enjoyed warmer than usual weather the past few days. The rain on Monday washed the last bits of snow away.
This morning it was snowing. No big deal, The weather man said it was going to be less than an inch....
My brother calls me and tells me that I do not want to go today. It took him forever to get down the hill. People were sliding all over the road. It took him over 2 1/2 hours to get his job in New York.
Early in the afternoon the snow stopped, the temp went up to 35 and the snow was melting. On my way upstairs I noticed it was a complete white out. There is more than an inch of snow on the ground. The steps are disappearing and the trash cans need to go out.
So I grab my shovel, and make a trail to the street. There is no way I am going to get my little car out of the driveway.
It was snowing so hard, the wind is blowing and its getting dark. I made a quick retreat into the house.
Ok snow, you beat me.

Hot Spiked Cider
Recipe courtesy Rachael Ray on Food Network's 30 Minute Meals
Try using a locally-produced apple cider, if possible. Local ingredients make it to the market faster and therefore are fresher. To make things extra festive, serve this cider in mugs rimmed with sugar, or topped with orange twists, whipped cream or nutmeg.
Ingredients:
2 quarts apple ciderDirections:
2 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
4 shots apple brandy
- Heat cider with cloves and cinnamon.
- Pour a shot of apple brandy into a mug and fill with cider.
Winter's Chill

I know I live in New England and I should not complain about the cold but..... I really want to start walking again. By the end of week it is suppose to get up to the 40's. I can do 40's.
Last winter I took a spill down the stairs and busted up my foot. It took six weeks before I could wear a shoe so basically I was trapped with no one to help me out. It was a very depressing time.
This year I am in a better place and getting active again will really help keep me there.
I no longer have a treadmill and can't afford to join the gym right now so I must learn to love my recumbent bike on the days I cannot go outside.
Boring.....
I can watch television or listen to tunes to make the time pass by quickly. Maybe I can try chanting. "I must I must I must reduced my butt".
The hardest part is getting started. If you need some help getting started, read this.

Good Ideas - Remember The Milk
I can't keep straight all of the tasks I need to complete. There are so many things to do. I find keeping a to-do list every handy. I use: Please Remember The Milk.
I love the different options you have to list your tasks. I can go through Twitter, my cell phone, the website directly or the best: my GMAIL account!
It's free (but they do have a upgraded account available).
Check it out and tell me what you think.

Soup Of The Week 15 Bean
I love soup. So I decided that each week, I would make a "Soup Of The Week". This week I plan on making 15 Bean Soup.
It couldn't be any simpler. Just add the beans, spice pack and water. Cook in your slow cooker and you are done. I will add a sausage, onions, carrots and garlic to complete the soup. Here is a recipe I like to use.
Look for my report later in week.

A Surprise When I Pulled Up
When I got home today, there were three deer in my yard. I managed to get a picture before they took off into the woods.

Really its the wind I cannot tolerate. Its not that I have to be out in it, however it makes my house cold despite having the heat on.

Any Suggestions?
I cannot start a fire to save my life. This is the first time I have a wood stove. The fire does not want to stay lit!
I woke up early and took a few snow pictures. The light was not right so I went out later and took a few more shots.
Nothing much to say about today. I watched my Philadelphia Eagles beat the Falcons! We needed this win.
I am just going to relax the rest of the night and edit pictures.
See, nothing exciting!
